Finding Steadier Ground When Anxiety Takes Over

When anxiety shows up, it can feel like your thoughts are moving faster than you are. The goal of therapy isn't to erase anxiety, but to help you understand what it's protecting and find steadier ground.

Start with your body

Before we work with anxious thoughts, it often helps to settle the nervous system. Slow, long exhales tell your body that it's safe to come down from high alert.

  • Notice five things you can see around you.
  • Let your exhale be a little longer than your inhale.
  • Feel your feet on the floor.

Make room for the thought

Rather than arguing with anxious thoughts, we practice noticing them with curiosity — "there's the worry again" — so they have less power to pull you around.

You are not broken. The wisdom you need is already within you.

If anxiety is interfering with your days, you don't have to manage it alone. Reaching out is a strong and worthwhile first step.
